Flaubert Park was designed on a former wasteland in 2015. The railroad line linking Grenoble to Chambéry used to pass through the right-of-way of the current park. Remains of the rails have been preserved to preserve the park's heritage character.
The park is the result of the municipality's desire to design an environmentally and socially exemplary park. The design team therefore paid particular attention to water and energy saving, the use of environmentally-friendly techniques in the choice of plants, and the design of refuge areas for wildlife (notably the pond). Naturalist associations regularly visit the site to survey flora and fauna.
